Victoria Hospital, Fife

Client: NHS Fife

Value: £250,000

In 2007 and 2008 Skyform were employed be NHS Fife to carry out external repair work to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. The works were carried out over two phases to allow for minimal disruption to the hospital, with phase 1 focusing on the northern elevations and phase 2 focusing on the southern elevations.

Scope of Works:

  • Carry out survey and hammer testing to external façade
  • Carry out remedial works to concrete cladding panels and exposed steel reinforcement
  • Application of anti-carbonation paint system
  • Remedial works to internal stairwells and plant rooms

The repairs to the concrete cladding panels were carried out using Fosroc materials which proved to be the most effective after samples were carried out. Access to the works was provided by Skyforms Access Division Skyform (Scotland) Ltd via suspended access platforms. This again proved to be more cost effective and efficient than scaffolding or a cherry picker/boom lift.
